How Fancy Flush Started

Roman Seifert has over 20 years of experience in the portable sanitation industry; having previously worked for and co-owned his family’s porta potty rental company. Being the second-generation, Roman didn’t have the same passion for plastic portable toilets like his father, but had a passion for product design & marketing. After years of being unhappy in the porta potty industry, Roman sold his interest in the company to his brother.
Heather Seifert has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality and customer service industry; having previously worked for and managed multiple movie theatres and a physical therapy office. After years of being stuck in the office, Heather decided it was time for a change.
Having worked in the sanitation industry Roman saw an under-served market for restrooms in Wine Country; he would constantly receive frantic calls complaining about the competitor comfort stations, the customer service or just the lack of supply itself. This was a huge problem; clients were not able to find anything available or they would pay lots of money for restrooms to never show up, or show up broken/dirty. Roman and Heather saw a need that they knew their combined skills in sanitation, customer service, marketing and product design/engineering would be able to serve.
“We saw a problem in the industry and wanted to solve it; however, we knew we had to be better than anything that existed before. Every aspect from our brand, to our customer service, and our equipment had to be superior. Before purchasing our first restroom trailer, we spent several months learning about every restroom trailer manufacturer. Because we are “perfectionists” almost none of the trailer models met our standards, and the few that did all had their own quirks and flaws we had to adjust. This was after all our hard-earned money we were gambling with; we had to make sure it was a no brainer for the client to choose Fancy Flush.” -Roman
Roman and Heather spent months combing through the different trailer types and models, nit picking at everything from the exterior to the interior designs. Heather wanted to make sure that the restroom they choose was fancy enough for a bride in her wedding dress but practical enough for a corporate retreat; Roman wanted to make sure it not only looked good but that everything was going to be well engineered and hold up to hundreds of people using it week after week. These aspects determined the type of trailer they ultimately went for.
Fancy Flush decided that a smooth white fiberglass exterior was the best option for their luxury restrooms. They felt the white fiberglass was a nice neutral that could go with any color theme and would still look great years down the road. Although aluminum exteriors have their own advantages, such as being inexpensive and having different color options; they felt that the ease of denting and the typical ripple effect the thin aluminum sides have were not going to hold up well and look unappealing after months of use. For the interior they wanted to portray a feeling of home and move away from the industrial interiors they were seeing on the market. They choose a restroom and style with neutral tan colors, granite counter tops, wood cabinets, porcelain sinks and wood floors. They add a personal touch in each restroom with pictures on the wall and flowers on the counter tops.  Though they choose the best option available for the restroom, there was still work to be done to make them just right.

“Once we purchased our first restroom trailer, our LUX2, we went to work modifying and upgrading the restroom. Over the course of the first year, and to this day, we encouraged feedback from our clients; we listened to their thoughts and implemented them on our restrooms. The biggest thing we learned from wedding planners and past clients is to make the restrooms simple and easy to operate. Almost nobody who was at the event(s) had previous experience with operating these bathrooms; so, we had to make them no only reliable and trouble free, but simple enough to operate on a hectic day like a wedding. With our on-board water tank and solar panels, we were able to make the trailers operate with just 1 or 2 switches; you no longer had to hook up water or power just to run the sinks and lights.” – Roman
“When customers are calling for a portable restroom they are typically calling because they have no restrooms on site. The most important thing about a bathroom is that it is clean and functioning properly. Each trailer is checked and cleaned before delivery. We have also worked closely with all of our team to make sure that everyone knows how to repair a restroom trailer so that a client never receives a broken bathroom. It is Fancy Flush’s normal practice to check all aspects of the restroom trailer on delivery; we check that all lights turn on, toilets flush, sinks run and even that the doors lock; if we find something wrong, we fix it right then and there. Our trailers look good and work well, that’s why we are the preferred restroom trailer company for so many wedding and event planners.” – Heather

Designing THEIR first VIP restroom trailer

Fancy Flush had worked hard to modify their bathrooms to be the most extravagant luxury restroom trailer in the area, but there was still a market they had yet to enter, the “VIP” or budget conscious side. These VIP restrooms are better then a traditional porta potty as in they had flushing toilets and sinks; however, they don’t have all the costly features that their LUX series have, like climate control or music. These budget friendly restrooms have all that you need, nothing more. There was a problem however; there was only one manufacturer that produced these bathrooms and that design did not meet their standards. This model of trailer is expensive to purchase, has a tiny interior, uses carpet flooring and have small waste and water tanks. The worst part about them is that the waste tank isn’t a tank at all, just a tray that if a trailer was over used would overflow onto the ground. This was unacceptable to Roman & Heather.
So, what were they to do? Roman, with his previous product design experience worked closely with a manufacturer and developed their first VIP trailer model, which like their LUX model had to be better in every way then what was currently available.
"When our clients step into a restroom, we don't want them to feel like they are on an airplane when at at wedding" - Heather
Roman designed this restroom to look less industrial, have larger interior space, yet have a trailer with less of a foot print, have larger counter tops, windows for ventilation, wood floors, larger waste and water tanks, and have a shared sealed tank for both stalls, this way if one stall is used more then the other it wouldn’t overflow. This model became what is know today as their “VIP” series, or “VIP2”.
